The Mat-Su Reentry Coalition is a collaboration of individuals, community stakeholders, public and not-for-profit agencies, faith-based and business partners, who are united and committed to reducing recidivism among returning citizens to the Mat-Su community. The coalition promotes public safety by identifying and implementing strategies that increase former prisoners’ well-being within the community and reduce the likelihood of their recidivating. The coalition promotes improved communication and collaboration between Alaska Department of Corrections, the coalition, and the community, and building community partnerships to strengthen local services, identify barriers for people being released from incarceration, and taking an active role in addressing those concerns and promoting community education and training opportunities.

As part of the Governor's Recidivism Reduction Plan, the coalition works to ensure successful offender reentry in the Valley, to reduce recidivism, to enhance public safety and to assist in ensuring the appropriate and responsible use of cost savings realized by judicial reforms.
